The wait is finally over! The Pantone Colour Institute has unveiled Pantone 17–1230 Mocha Mousse as the Colour of the Year 2025. Laurie Pressman, the Vice President of the Pantone Colour Institute, describes Mocha Mousse as ‘a mellow brown hue with inherent richness and a sensorial, comforting warmth that deepens our sense of comfort and celebrates the indulgence of simple pleasures we can give and share with others’. Hence, much like the comforting first sip of coffee on a Sunday morning, Mocha Mousse indulges you in a sense of serene simplicity.

In celebration of Mocha Mousse, our interior designer, Dani Gottschalk, is excited to share her thoughts on the colour:
"I couldn't lust more over the mouthwatering Pantone colour of the year: MOCHA MOUSSE. The dark mysterious depth of mocha that combines a bit of witchy reading from the coffee grounds in an oriental tent to the accentuated end of a business meeting in a cigar lounge. Followed by an unintentional engagement with an innocent hot-cold brunette that still tastes a bit like 2024's fuzzy peach in the aftermath. The heavy but comforting darkness of mocha is lifted by the airy texture of mousse, adding a lighthearted sparkle to a moody tale of desire, loss, and temptation. Mocha Mousse wraps you in a fluffy bed of caressing sins. I imagine it poured as an epoxy floor with a boule kidney-shaped sofa, velvet curtains, vases and flowerpots. This reminds me of Tanizaki Junichiro’s In Praise of Shadows, ‘we find beauty not in the thing itself but in the pattern of shadow, the light and the darkness, that one thing against another creates’. Thanks to its neutral, earthy tone, Mocha Mousse can stand alone as a statement or serve as a foundation, complementing a variety of palettes, patterns, and styles, from minimalist to intricately detailed bold concepts, or, as Gottschalk said, ‘how beautiful Mocha Mousse is as it swam and dim shadows within an epoxy floor with a boule kidney-shaped sofa, velvet curtains, vases, and flowerpots.’ This highlights the power of Mocha Mousse in transforming the uncanny nature of shadows into the beauty of contentment and comfort.
